One of the reasons of this Game is for the Interactors to know their Rotarians and Rotaractors better. Rare opportunities like getting to know them (Rotarians and Rotaractors) personally is opened.

At 0730, Rotaractors gathered in the school compound and started preparing the registration counter before guests and Interactors arrive. At the same time, bases were being set up on the school field. By 0815, participants arrived and registered themselves. Most of them were Interactors. We kicked off the Game with an aerobic session which was led by our fellow Rotaractor, Rtc. Ameer. By 0900, the aerobic ended and the Game started.

There were 10 bases and 10 teams were formed by the participants. Among the bases were Blind Football, Endurance and Coconut Run. Each team was required to attempt every game on the field. Some Rotarians did participate and played along. The rules of the games were different in many ways but similar in timing. Each team has a 10 minutes limit at each base. By 1300, each team had completed all their bases and proceeded to the 100 meters track for the next game which was the Eating Competition.

The competition lasted for about 20 minutes and points were jotted down by the judges. Later, all the points for each team were accumulated and we got the winner. Before the lunch time and announcing the winner of this year’s RRI Games, together with Interactors, we cleaned up the field. With stomach filled up with good food, the moment of truth arrived. It was when we announced the winners and only the top three finishers went home with hampers.
Photos were taken to remember the moments of the RRI Games and we parted ways at around 1400. With a tight budget to work with and time constraints, the Rotaractors made the RRI Games a success. Kudos and hope it continues!

CHARITY BUBBLY-BUBBLE CAR WASH PROJECT

On the 10th February 2007, there was a Charity Bubbly-Bubble Car Wash Project organized by the Rotaract Club of Pudu. This car wash project took place at one of the ProJET petrol station, Taman Connaught, Cheras. The objective of this project mainly is to raise funds to support the club’s community service projects.

There were around more than 20 members and guests came to help out in this project. We started to wash the cars from 10 o’clock in the morning till 5:30 in the evening. Despite the hot and sunny weather, we managed to wash more than 50 cars and raised RM1, 840 to support the club’s community service project.

This project would not have been a success without the generous sponsorship from ProJET petrol station. Rumors were spread vastly around the Klang Valley about Rotaract club of Pudu's installation. I'm sure that everyone wants to know what was happening during the installation.
The event started with the arrival of our Guest of Honour, President Ken Ong (Rotary Club of Pudu) and Ann Chew Lian. Accompanying them were Rtn Arthur Yeong (Representing District Governor, District Rotaract Chairman), PP Gary Lim (District 3300 New Generation), Rtr Chandra (District Rotaract Representative) and President Lee Siew Ling (Rotaract Club of Pudu).
Our Master of Ceremony, Rtr. Nellie and Rtr. Eawei , lead the programme continue with an official opening for Rotaract Club of Pudu's 33rd installation day and it's been officially launched by President Ken Ong with patching up the recycle icon puzzles.
Oops ..ya .. Not to forget the event keep on beating with a group of dancers from Element Crew performed their 'Hip Hop dance'?or 'Break dance'? with combination of a song from the 'Fast and Furious' movie. Everyone was enjoyed with their remarkable performance.
After a speech from the Organizing Chairperson, Rtr.Rose Mah, finally the dinner was start to serve. During dinner time, everyone took the opportunity to snap photos, chat, and mix around with other clubs' members, Rotarians, and guests. In the meantime as guests having their dinner to fill up their stomach, we had ready some pleasant melody that 'filled' up their ear too!! We had invited an Indonesian born Chinese singer, Susanto, to sing few songs to the audience. The audience amused with the songs that he sang and had requested him to encore too! Bravo Susanto! Better get his signature before he becomes a popular singer!!! You have melted the audience's heart away especially the girls!!!Wow....awesome.

What's next then? Of course the installation ceremony!! It was the most important and meaningful for the entire event. Before the ceremony was started, absolutely not to forget the previous term of the Board of Directors for RY 2004/2005 that presides over by our IPP Chong Pei Yee. IPP Chong Pei Yee introduced all her directors with the animation slide and express thanks to them that had been supported her for the past one year. There was an appreciation section which member was given away an award. There were three awards that been given out and had been categorized as; Best Attendance Award, Most Outstanding Award, and Most Contribution Award for RY 2005/2006, and those awards were received by incoming President Lee Siew Ling, Rtr. Nellie, and Rtr. Seow Fei Chen. To conclude her speech, she wishes all the best for the new BoDs for RY 2006/2007 and past over her baton to incoming President for RY 2006/2007, President Lee Siew Ling.
Subsequently, President Lee Siew Ling introduced the Board of Directors for the term RY 2003/2007 with the animation slide. The new Board of Directors for RY 2006/2007 was as following:

President : Rtr. Lee Siew Ling
Vice President : Rtr. Rose Mah Yee Fun
Secretary : Rtr. Nellie Yeoh Ee Wei
Treasurer : Rtr. Shiu Sook Sun
Club Service : Rtr. Seow Fei Chen
Community Service : Rtr. Fong Wai Yan
International Service : Rtr. The objective to have this blog is to post our most happening latest activities, gossip and juicy story with tag boards that allow everyone to drop their messages. Hence ... What are you waiting for? Go ahead to racpudu.blogspot.com. Check it out! Hot and steamy news available!!
Next, it's the retirement segmenting, where our beloved PP Tan Wei Seong introduced two of the retirees with a photos slide section and a short testimonial about their contribution for the club. Then he presented the tokens of appreciation to our two retirees, PDRR Terence Lee and PP Debbie Tan. Thank you very much for all the deed that both of you have done for the club!! We will never forget you even though both of you have left the club because both of you were meant to us! We love you!!

Finally, the most happening part and wanted for from the guests... The Fashion Show!! What is so special? For information to those who didn't turn up on our installation, this fashion show was totally different from the origin of the fashion show. This idea of the fashion show was related and derived from our theme: 'Tin Tank Tong' which means recycles. They had used all the recycle items such as paper and plastic bags, cassettes, bottles, and etc to reuse it and designed it as costumes. Are they creative? Amazed and impressed! That makes you feel absolutely great! Do you feel to put on for a try? That may help for our environment!

The Fashion Show

The installation was a great and meaningful event where a place that we can completely meet up and enjoy together, and also able to strengthen our relationship with the guests, other clubs' members and Rotarians. There were around 130 guests were attended our installation!! Thank you for your attendance and supports!! Glad to have this wonderful event and looking forward to see you all again for the next installation for next term!! Bon voyage!

Report by,
Rose Mah.

Dear all

If you have any friends or past attendees of our projects, who you'd think they'll be interested to be kept informed on the happenings of rac pudu, please give me their email and contact details.
I'll invite them to join racpudufriends@yahoogroups.com.
I will forward and send the necessary announcements to this email on our club activities.

Thanks to all,Nellie

RAC Gombak Installation Day

On the 7th October 2006, Siew Ling, Siew Peng, Nellie, and myself represent our club to attend the installation day of RAC Gombak. All the guests and members of RAC Gombak were all in their wonderful pirate's attire. Wow!!!Wondering if Captain Jack Sparrow is around!Hehe..

As soon as the Organizing Chairman, Rtr. Andrew Michael Khoo finished his speech, the opening ceremony begin with the opening dance followed by the speech by the Assistant Executive Director, National Council for The Blind, Malaysia, Mr. Moses Choo. There is a slide presentation by National Council for The Blind, Malaysia and it was about information and type of blindness. What a good sharing moment!!!

After the presentation, it's dinner time!! We had our cocktail food while enjoying the break dance performance. Without further a due, they started the lucky draw session and the slide presentation of their achievements in RY 2005/06. Finally, the most important moment is when the installation of new board of director for the RY2006/07 took place. Last but not least; we do enjoy the Installation Day very much.

Report by,
Fei Chen.

Moon Cake Festival Celebration

On the 1st of October 2006, we organized a moon cake festival celebration with the orphans at Rumah Shalom, Puchong. There are about 60 participants attended, which include, 20 members, 28 kids and 10 guests. Wow! What a big happy family.
We reached Rumah Shalom around 5pm. Everybody is busy preparing for the BBQ party preparation and lantern decorations. We get started at 7.30pm with the BBQ Party. There are lots of foods, from the famous chicken wings, sausages, fish balls, curry chicken, fried mihun, satay, corns to sweet jelly moon cake and pudding. Sound delicious!! Yummy!!!. The kids are well taken care by the members and guests. They help the kids to grill the food. Wow, good job to our members and guests.

After the BBQ, here comes the games session, that the kids are waiting for. We had a few games prepared for the kids, which include the "blanket game" (The kids are divided into 2 groups. They are required to call out their opponent's name when the blanket falls off.) Hehehe. this game is to test their memory and efficiency. Last but not least is the "water, bird, stone" game. (Very similar to 1 2 zoom, but we do it with action) Curious on how these games work? Check it out with our OC of the nite Ms Fong Wai Yan. Hahaha.

''water, bird and stone''

the blanket game

The champion of the night goes to. Group 3! Well, everyone is the winner, the most important is we enjoyed. The kids are very happy as each and every one of them queue up to get their prizes. (Stationeries and lantern sets).

I can see their smiling faces and it really reminds me of my wonderful childhood. After the games, we went for the lantern walk around the field. The lanterns looked very beautiful and it seems like there are a lot of fireflies. As for the conclusion, we have to clean up everything at the end of the day and it was really tiring, but we enjoyed ourselves and had a great fun with the kids.

Project: Mini Pot Luck cum First Club Assembly
Venue: Taman Dagang, Ampang (Ru Po's house)
16 September 2006, Saturday.

Due to the heavy downpour, we could not manage to start the mini potluck and 1st club assembly on time. Moreover, at the half way while everybody is busy preparing the international cuisine, we realized that we do not have any water supply in the house!!!Oh My God!! It's all because we forgot to switch on the main water pipe. Hahaha... What a joke of the day! Thank god we managed to cook all the cuisine before everyone arrive. During the first general meeting, the IS Director, Lim Ru Po, had already divided members into their own groups based on the respective avenue.
Club Service Avenue, they had agreed to come out with the Vietnam and Thai cuisine. They chose to cook the Sweet Vietnamese Roll as our dessert. The Sweet Vietnamese Roll is made from Vietnamese spring roll skin, whereby it is rolled with coconut slice, honey cube and sesame as topping (hand made). As for the Thai, they prepared the Tom Yam Fish and also Sweet and Sour Chicken Fillet Soup. While enjoying the delicious food, we are entertained by the RAC Port Klang, with performances by the orphans and singing performance by their IPP Toh Harnniann. Right after the performance, here comes the lucky draw session. Our club members able to get 2 lucky draw items…very lucky I guess! After the installation, everybody is busy taking photos with each other. We do join in the photo taking session. We just loved to take photos. Hahaha….

Report by,
Sook Sun.

Dear members, there's some changes in the venue for the meeting this coming Saturday

Venue : Eurasian Club
Date : 5 August
Time : 6:00 pm

After the meeting, Rose and Sook Sun had plan a series of quizzes / games to enhance your knowledge further on beyond Malaysia... stay tune!!!

TO BODs and BODs' representatives: please prepare your report and let Nellie know if you'd like to amend the agenda under your section.

Rotaract Club Of Kelana Jaya Installation Day

The Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya’s Installation Day was held on 14th July 06 at The Banker’s Club, Amoda Building, Kuala Lumpur. 3 representatives from our club (Tracy Hah, Mandy Looi and myself) attended the installation ceremony, which started at 7.30pm.

Prior to the arrival of the guests, we can see all the buffet style dishes is already prepared just outside of the ballroom entrance.. This is the opportunity whereby each and everyone of us are able to mingle around.

The theme for the Kelana Jaya’s Installation Day is “Jazzing It Again” and the attire for the day is formal, where all the girls in their beautiful evening gown and guys with their attractive bow tie!! Without further a due, they proceed with the induction session for all the members in the club and soon after that, the installation took place. Dang!Dang!Dang!Dang!!! The Installation was a great success. I found that the installation was an interesting one.

Installation is usually held every year between the month of July till September. The organizer managed to garner a huge support from other clubs in the district, sponsoring Rotarian, ex-Rotractors with a total of 14 tables fully occupied.

Highlight of the program was auction of items donated to raise fund for RAC Subang’s community service project. Among the attractive items being auction include 18-color inch television, wines and hard liquors. One unfortunate incident happened during the presentation from outgoing President Harley whereby the motorize screen was stuck. However, outgoing President Harley managed to cover up by sharing his emotions at the spot.

Most past Rotaractors of RAC Subang were fascinated and touched with the rundown memory of the last twenty years of the club with moments captured when they were with the club.
I had no complains as I enjoyed the 8-course set Chinese cuisine dinner for the price I paid. Recalled the conversation i had with President Pei Yee outside the washroom. She told me that we did not get most of the awards by loosing one or two points. She sounded sad and i can actually understand her feeling. Having a great thought right after it. Is it that important to win the award? That's the question that keeps playing in my mind right after the conversation.

The award should be an incentive for us to improve, therefore, my perception is that it doesn't matter whether we win or lose (its just my personal perception which you may beg to differ). Pei yee and all Pudurian, I believe no one will disagree with me that we have had a great year together in Rotaract. In addition, President Pei yee and everyone have done an excellent job. Even tough we did not win any award, but i believe each and everyone in the club feels the bond and the excitement of having fun and working together. This can be seen from the Karak's camp, the eating out session and the outings right after each meeting session.

So Pudurian, don't get upset with the award matters. I believe all of us have had great time together. But anyhow this will not stop us also to endeavour to win at least 1 award next year (because Terence is going to treat us…. that's something i overheard * grin*) .
I just want to say, its really great to be with all of you in Rotaract and no award can replace that special experience and all the fun i have had together with all of you.

Cheers,
Tracy Hah

Talk by Rtr Amanda Lam

Due to heavy down pour, we started the talk about 6pm with a handful of members. After a while, more members & guests started arriving. Amanda started by introducing the Group Study Exchange (GSE) program from the Rotary Foundation. GSE is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country's institutions and ways of life, observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas....enough of promoting GSE!

Amanda started her journey visiting various companies from Computer Associates, Australian Institute of Management to a funeral parlour,"Horizontal Underground Accommodation" (the only place she let her camera in peace too). It was magnificent to be facing with such huge gigantic machinery from the major industries such as production of lobster and wine. We've also learnt that the lobsters weren't dead when they were being packed and shipped across for the export market ... but sort of electrocuted. She was also very lucky that she had the opportunity to not only visit but experience the proceedings in Parliament House and turned the Police Station upside down (hehehe!).

She also shared with us the Rotary movement in Western Australia. One successful noble project (worth mentioning) is manufacturing the wheel chairs. I can't remember the numbers but the Rotary Club managed to produce a tremendous numbers to be shipped out to the poor. In such short period, she was hosted by 14 Aus families, imagine that? Each one of them holds a different personal experience ... one host family even called her one day after she moved out to the other host family, missing her loudness in the home.

a token of appreciation to Amanda

Report by Nellie

Feng Shui Talk by Mr. Simon Soh

One of more mystic topic ... Just to recap a short summary of the session:

Feng shui is the ancient Chinese practice of placement and arrangement of space to attempt to achieve harmony with the environment that has its origins from Taoism. Proper Feng Shui is a set of general guidelines for the creation of beautiful architecture and comfortable interior decoration not superstition as it has become for some now day.Traditional feng shui uses a specialized compass called a Luopan, and a comprehensive array of calculations involving mathematical iterations. The original trigrams of the Yijing, known popularly as the eight digrams or "Ba Gua,".

We are surrounded with an all-encompassing life giving energy called Qi. Qi can be further separated into Yang Qi and Yin Qi. This energy can be found in various forms and these are identified as 5 elements. They are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. This is production cycle as Fire burns and produces Earth. Earth produces Metal in its bowels. Metal when heated flows like Water. Water nourishes Wood. Wood is the fuel for Fire. Furthermore, that is controlling cycle where Fire melts Metal. Metal (axe) cuts Wood. Wood controls Earth with its roots. Earth restricts the flow of Water. Water extinguishes Fire.

The 'Ba Gua'

In feng shui terminology, we identify these two diagrams as the Ho Tu and the Lo Shu squares and they are mathematical because they comprise arrangements of numbers that unlock many of the secrets of time and space feng shui. The diagram of dots was changed into four sets of 2-number combinations in the cardinal directions of North, South, East and West. Thus 9 in the South paired with 4. And 3 in the East paired with 8. Then 1 in the North paired with 6. And 7 in the West paired with 2. In the center was the number 5. Any three numbers in the arrangement added vertically, horizontally or diagonally, adds up to 15, which is the number of nights it takes for the new moon to become the full moon. Is this getting too technical? So, which square are you in?

Report by Bee Hong

This year, with the grant from Ministry of Youth and Sports and Rotary Club of Pudu, a joint youth leadership project between Rotary and Rotaract Club of Pudu was being organized at the Dusun Eco Resort, Karak for 380 youths participating from 17 to 19 March 2006. Methodist Boy Secondary School was also invited to join so our members will have opportunity to get to know and establish long-term relationship with them. This teambuilding exercise was attended by 18 participants in total and conducted on voluntary basis by Tuan Haji Tajodin Bin Haji Sanusi, a professional trainer by profession.

The programme started with Listening Test Riddles, whereby each participant was given a sheet containing 5 common sense riddles. This is to get the participants to start their thinking gear and to team up for answers, as two heads are always better than one. Then, the participants were being ushered to field and divided into two teams for Acid River and Snake Dice.

In Acid River, the participants were given 5 plates to cross the acidic river from point A to point B and competing with the other group as to who will get to point B first. The winning team won not because of their physical ability but they had strategized on maximizing each plate to carry across their whole team within the shortest time.

                                                                                            Intense discussion

Meanwhile, in Snake Dice, the two teams were given one huge dice and everyone was blindfolded expect for leaders. On the count of three, each team had to roll the dice and move forward or backward simultaneously according to the dice. The winning team will be the one to reach the finishing point. Although, the dice could not be control but with followers who understand and follow instructions in unison is the key to wining the game. As the saying goes by Thomas Edison, “I never did anything by accident, nor did any of my inventions come by accident; they came by work.”

Getting ready for Snake Dice game

Towards the end of this game, rained started pouring so we heed back to canteen for Lego time.
